Description

The BECA 005 Piston profile is a machined guide ring or wear ring with a 30° angle cut as standard in a tubular material composed of a cotton weave with a superfine mesh, imbibed with phenolic resin with added lubricant. Other types of cuts can be made.

Materials

Phenolic resin

The BECA 005 rod and piston wear rings are made from round phenolic resin tubes. This is a laminate composed of layers of very resistant cotton fabric, which has been soaked in a phenol resin and then compressed at a high temperature. While fitting under high pressure and high temperature environments, the phenolic resin bonds the coiled layers, which become inseparable after hardening.

The phenolic resin offers increased mechanical resistance (hard and rigid) with good resistance on impact, and good resistance on bending, stripping and compression. It has good dimensional stability with a very low moisture pickup.

Design guidelines

Guide sizing

The following formulas calculate the height "H" of the piston guide holder while taking account of the gap "Z" necessary at the ends of the ring after fitting. This gap "Z" offsets the thermal expansion under the effects of temperature, and prevents intermediate pressures and drag pressures in the system.

H = (F x f) / (ØD1 x Cr)

where:

H = Min. height of guide (mm)
F = Max. radial force (N)
f = Safety coefficient (we recommend 2)
ØD1 = Bore diameter (mm)
Cr = Permissible radial load in dynamic applications (N/mm²)

Types of cuts

The wear rings are made with a 30° angle cut as standard. Other types of cuts can be made on request, as shown in the diagram below.
